The Caribeñas of Salinas defeated the Grises of Humacao 5-3 on Wednesday at Julia Díaz García Park in a Women’s Softball Premier League (LPSF) game.


Mexican pitcher Yeraldine Carrión earned the victory, recording 15 strikeouts over six innings of work to improve her record to 2-0.


Carrión allowed six hits, issued three walks, and gave up three runs -- including a home run -- in yet another dominant performance from the pitching circle.


The Caribeñas (2-1) were led on offense by Valeria Rosario, who had a perfect night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with one RBI. Jonaliz Ayala went 2-for-2 with a double, scoring two runs. Adriana Coira went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Janiela Díaz drove in a run and scored another in her only official plate appearance.


For Humacao (0-3), Mileishka Soto went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a double, Anyela Gómez homered and scored two runs.


The loss went to Elliana Zellien, who pitched three innings and allowed seven hits and four runs. She issued one walk and struck out three.
