The Marlins of Ceiba have been crowned champions of the Eastern Section of the Central Amateur Baseball League Confederation (COLICEBA) for the second year in a row, following Sunday’s 3-1 victory over the Jueyeros of Maunabo, which earned the Marlins direct qualification for the “Carnaval de Campeones” (Carnival of Champions).

With the victory, the Ceiba team finished with a 9-3 record -- good enough to clinch first place in their section and advance to the postseason.

“Our Marlins have demonstrated their talent, commitment, and determination on the field, and today we celebrate this significant achievement with them,” Ceiba Mayor Samuel Rivera Báez said in a written statement.

The sectional title allows the Marlins to advance directly to the ‘Carnaval de Campeones,’ where they will continue their pursuit of the COLICEBA title.
