The Amateur Baseball League of Puerto Rico Confederation (COLICEBA by its acronym in Spanish) announced this week that its 2026 season will begin on Friday, Sept. 18, featuring 17 franchises distributed across four sections.

The opening game will pit the Caciques of Orocovis against the defending champion Guapos of Dorado at 7 p.m. at Tomás Palmares Stadium in Dorado.

The remaining teams will begin play on Saturday, Sept. 19, with doubleheaders starting at 6 p.m. Each team will play 12 games during the regular season.

Among the new developments is the return of the Olímpicos of Comerío after an absence of several decades; the franchise previously won the national championship in 1976.

The Maceteros of Vega Alta will also return to the league, joining the North Section alongside Dorado, Orocovis and the Atléticos of Barranquitas.

The Central Section will feature the Sabaneros of Cidra, Tigres of Aguas Buenas, Olímpicos of Comerío and Jardineros of Aibonito.

The East Section will consist of the Marlins of Ceiba, Yunqueros of Río Grande, Halcones of Gurabo, Azucareros of Yabucoa and Jueyeros of Maunabo.

Competing in the South Section will be the Ganduleros of Villalba, Guayacanes of Guayanilla, Illescanos of Coamo and Bucaneros of Arroyo.
