Thirteen teams had secured their spot in the sectional finals of the Double-A Superior Baseball League as of press time Sunday, leaving just three spots to be determined.
The Titanes of Florida, Peces Voladores of Salinas, Guardianes of Dorado and Libertadores of Hormigueros joined the ranks of the qualifiers on Saturday.
In the North section, the Titanes dethroned the 2025 sectional champions and 2026 regular-season leaders Arenosos of Camuy by way of a 7-1 victory. Joshua Santiago pitched the first five innings to earn the victory, while Jean Pérez finished the game in relief to record the save. Jesmuel Valentín and Dariel Ríos each drove in two runs.
Florida now awaits the winner of the semifinal series between the Atenienses of Manatí and the Tigres of Hatillo, which was tied at two wins apiece going into Sunday’s scheduled games.
In the South, the Peces Voladores completed a comeback with three consecutive victories, eliminating the Poetas Juana Díaz, the section’s regular-season leaders, 7-6.
With two gone in the top of the ninth inning, Salinas rallied for five runs to win. Joek Rivera, Julio Carrión and Bryan de la Rosa spearheaded the offense, each driving in two runs. Jared Ortiz pitched four scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and Jean Ramos recorded the save.
The Peces Voladores, who have won the South section crown in the past five seasons, had dropped the first two games of the series. They will face the Maratonistas of Coamo in the sectional final.
In the Metro section, the Guardianes defeated the Maceteros of Vega Alta 4-2 to knock them out of the postseason, backed by a seven-inning, six-strikeout performance by Enrique Cotto. Dorado cemented their lead with a three-run outburst in the bottom of the seventh inning. Alejandro Valiente pitched 1.2 innings to record the save. Robbie Merced drove in two runs with a double and scored one himself. The Guardians bounced back after losing two consecutive games, having previously taken a 2-0 lead in the series.
The victory marked Víctor Claudio’s debut as player-manager for Dorado, following the departure of Joey Solá. The Guardians will now face the Gigantes of Carolina in the sectional finals.
In the Northwest section, the Libertadores eliminated the Tiburones of Aguadilla 5-0, thanks to the shutdown pitching tandem of Omar Meléndez and Roy Geigel.
Meléndez struck out six batters over seven hitless innings to earn the win. Geigel pitched the final two innings to record the save. Carlos Lugo and Adriel Acevedo each drove in two runs.
Hormigueros will face the Patrulleros of San Sebastián in the Northwest section finals.
