The Estrellas del Guamaní (Guayama) secured first place in the South section and a direct berth to the sectional championship series by splitting a doubleheader with the Poetas (Juana Díaz) on Sunday during the final stretch of the 2026 Women’s Baseball League regular season.

Guayama finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and will now await the winner of the semifinal series between Juana Díaz and the Ponys (Santa Isabel) to determine their opponent in the South final.

The Estrellas prevailed 9-6 in the day’s first game, with Consuelo Payero pitching three scoreless innings in relief and Daniela Figueroa closing out the game to earn the save. Valeria Rosario led Guayama’s offense with four RBIs.

Juana Díaz responded in the second game with a 5-3 victory. Danna González pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out seven batters to earn the win.

Ashley García drove in two of the Poetas’ runs.

Rain disrupted the remainder of the schedule, as doubleheaders featuring Santa Isabel at Cabo Rojo, Vega Alta at Las Piedras, and Loíza at Utuado were suspended.
