Edgar Robles Rivera, the representative-elect of House District 14 (Arecibo and Hatillo), took an emotional Thanksgiving to the Centro de Transformación de las Tinieblas a la Luz Admirable, which is located in Arecibo’s Barrio Dominguito and is headed by José Feliciano.

The lawmaker-elect also committed himself to working hand in hand from the Legislature to improve the quality of life for those who receive services from the organization.

Robles Rivera said the gesture of solidarity stresses the commitment of the New Progressive Party with people who struggle daily to overcome substance addiction and alcohol problems, a commitment that includes giving them support and an opportunity to start anew.

For the soon to be seated legislator, organizing the dinner was an act born from the heart, coming from a very intimate place Robles Rivera shares with his beloved father.

The representative-elect, who comes from the public housing system, knows the problems of addiction firsthand.

“Our father confronted problems with alcoholism and with the help of entities similar to this center he was able to beat this evil,” he said.
