In an effort to modernize and improve the technological tools available to teachers employed by the island Department of Education, the General Services Administration (GSA) has acquired 27,486 laptops, with a total investment of $39,601,750.36.
The purchase was made through a multiple award process, under Centralized Contract RFP 23J-17251-R1, which guarantees transparency and competitiveness in the selection of suppliers.
The acquisition, which includes laptops, carrying cases, other accessories and warranties, was made with the aim of directly benefiting teachers by providing them with the technological resources necessary to optimize their educational work. The purchase was managed through the GSA using a bidding process involving several suppliers.
GSA Administrator Karla Mercado Rivera emphasized the transparency and rigor of the procurement process, stating that “the General Services Administration has ensured that this procurement process was conducted in a clear and open manner, following the highest standards of transparency to ensure that government entities receive the best offer.”
She added that “[a]ll stages of this tender are publicly available on the GSA website. …”
