Governor declares day of mourning for passing of former senator Pagán González

Gov. Jenniffer González Colón expressed her condolences on Thursday for the loved ones of former senator Carlos Pagán González, who died on Tuesday, and declared this Friday as a day of mourning in his memory.
“I mourn the passing of a true public servant, a great statesman, a farmer, a history teacher, and a man of the people: former Senator Carlos Pagán González,” the governor said in a written statement. “My condolences to his loved ones and entire family, especially to his widow, Ramona ‘Cuca’ Pabón. I am very grateful for the support he gave me over the years, and I commend his distinguished career as a legislator, where he championed the rights of farmers, maintaining an impeccable record. His dedication to service extended beyond his time in the Legislature; even outside of office, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was a good, honest, and humble man. May he rest in peace, and may his family find comfort during this difficult time.”
The governor ordered that flags be flown at half-mast at all government buildings on Friday, the day of the former senator’s funeral., a great statesman, farmer, history professor, and man of the people: former Senator Carlos Pagán González. My condolences to his loved ones and his entire family, especially his widow, Ramona “Cuca” Pabón. I am deeply grateful for the support he gave me over the years and I highlight his career as a legislator, where he defended farmers, with an impeccable resume. His dedication to service was not limited to his years in the Legislature, as outside of it, he was still available to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was a good, honorable, and humble man. May he rest in peace, and may his family receive every comfort,” the Governor expressed. Governor Jenniffer González declared a day of mourning in memory of the former senator and ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in all government offices tomorrow, Friday, September 26, 2025, when his burial will take place.
