BN Sports president and event organizer Arturo Díaz announced that the 2026 edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Puerto Rico has already surpassed 1,300 registered athletes, pointing toward one of the largest competitions in the event’s history on the island.

“From the first weeks of the registration process, we saw an extraordinary response from both local and international athletes. Everything indicates that this edition will surpass last year’s numbers, further establishing Puerto Rico as one of the most attractive destinations on the IRONMAN calendar,” Díaz said in written statements.

The competition will take place Sunday, March 15, and will feature participants from more than 40 countries.

According to the organizers, the previous edition recorded 1,185 athletes, including 351 local participants, reflecting the continued growth of triathlon in Puerto Rico.

The event is expected to generate an estimated economic impact of $2.2 million in the San Juan metropolitan area, including nearly 3,772 hotel nights and more than 95 direct and indirect jobs tied to the organization of the race.

The competition will also award 30 qualifying slots for the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which will be held in Nice, France.

The race will begin at Condado Lagoon with a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile cycling segment toward Dorado, and will conclude with a 13.1-mile run through Old San Juan, finishing at Parque del Tercer Milenio next to Batería del Escambrón.
