The Pollitas of Isabela defeated the Explosivas of Moca 77-53 on Monday night in a Women’s Superior National Basketball game at José “Buga” Abreu Coliseum in Isabela season.
The Pollitas notched their third-straight win, making them the fourth team to reach the eight wins on the season.
The Explosivas started competitively, holding a four-point lead at one stage during the first quarter. However, once the Pollitas pulled even, they took control of the game, employing excellent ball movement and finding scoring opportunities from various angles on the court.
The effectiveness of the Pollitas’ three import players on offense was a decisive factor, along with aggressive team defense. Isabela forced 13 turnovers by the Explosivas and converted those opportunities into 22 points. Additionally, the Pollitas controlled the paint with 32 points and got 13 points from their bench.
Moca also faced challenges due to injuries to two of its key players. Star player Leigha Brown played just eight minutes and 11 seconds before leaving the game with a hand injury that prevented her return. Meanwhile, Caroline Ducharme also sustained an injury, though she was later able to reenter the game.
