Javy Báez organizes 5K in Bayamón to benefit people with spina bifida

Major League Baseball and Puerto Rican national team player Javy Báez and El Mago Foundation will host the “Challenging Limits for Inclusion” 5-kilometer road race in Bayamón on Sunday, Nov. 22.
Proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the Puerto Rico Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Association.
“As a family, we have learned that when the right tools, support, and opportunities are in place, there are no limits to what our children can achieve,” said Irmarie Báez, the Detroit Tigers utility player’s wife and spokesperson for El Mago Foundation, in a written statement. “We want this event to be much more than just a race; we want it to be a movement of solidarity.”
The initiative aims to raise awareness about spina bifida and gather funds to expand the resources, support, and opportunities available to individuals with the condition and their families.
El Mago Foundation Executive Director Samuel Zapata noted that the race is part of the organization’s efforts to translate its inclusion initiatives into direct community support.
“We want every participant to understand that their contribution serves a purpose: to continue developing resources and supporting the mission, thereby making a real impact on the spina bifida community,” Zapata said.
The participation fee is $30, and the event is open to people of all ages.
