Gov. Jenniffer González Colón announced on Thursday the launch of four new direct JetBlue routes connecting San Juan with Philadelphia, Richmond, Va., Norfolk, Va. and Buffalo, N.Y., with an estimated economic impact of $99.5 million for Puerto Rico.

“Puerto Rico continues to solidify its position as a priority destination within the air travel network of the continental United States,” González Colón said in a written statement. “The expansion of these new routes reflects a clear strategy to strengthen our air access, broaden our reach in key markets, and continue generating economic development opportunities for the island.”

Puerto Rico Tourism Company Executive Director Willianette Robles Cancel said “the new connections from Richmond and Philadelphia began operations on March 26. The routes from Norfolk and Buffalo will launch operations on March 27, as part of the expansion announced by JetBlue in December 2025, and following the commencement of direct service between Jacksonville and Puerto Rico on March 13.”

The connection from Richmond will contribute 25,272 additional seats and generate an estimated economic impact of $17 million, while the route from Philadelphia will add 59,130 seats, with an impact of $42.7 million. The routes from Buffalo and Norfolk will each add 33,696 seats, with estimated economic impacts of $19.7 million and $20.1 million, respectively.

“As the airline with the largest presence on the island, we remain focused on strengthening connectivity, supporting tourism, and making it easier for families and friends to stay connected through our network,” said Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships at JetBlue.
