Juan Medina earns Double-A Manager of the Year award.

Juan Medina, manager of the Patrulleros of San Sebastián, has been named Manager of the Year for the 2026 season of the Double-A Superior Baseball League.
“I give thanks to God, who is the one who grants us the strength and wisdom to be here,” Medina said earlier this week in a written statement. “I also congratulate my colleagues who were on the shortlist for Manager of the Year.”
The former national team catcher garnered 96 points in the voting process -- conducted by journalists, play-by-play announcers and color commentators -- which was coordinated by the Puerto Rico Baseball Federation. Antonio Vega of Manatí finished second with 60 points, followed by Wilfredo González of Maunabo with 58, Roberto López of Las Piedras with 42, and Rogelio Negrón Jr. of Juana Díaz with 36.
Eduardo Dávila of the Criollos of Caguas won the award in 2025.
Medina, who also was selected to manage in the All-Star Game for the second-straight year, led San Sebastián to the best record in Double-A during the regular season, posting a 19-1 mark.
The Patrulleros became the first team to reach 19 wins in a 20-game season, having previously finished with a 16-4 record in 2025 under Medina’s guidance.
“I never gave any thought to the record this year,” the manager said. “It was just taking it game by game -- playing hard.”
Medina added: “I can tell you that the team worked for this; we worked to have a good season, and thank God, we did.”
The San Sebastián manager dedicated the award “to my parents, who have never left my side, and to my daughter, who has attended every one of my games.”
