Enrique “Kiké” Hernández’s announcement on Saturday that he has undergone elbow surgery and therefore will not play in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, officials from the Puerto Rico Baseball Federation (FBPR) expressed their regret.

“This is a huge loss for our team,” National Team Manager Yadier Molina said in a written statement. “We know Kiké is a great player and a great teammate. I wish him a speedy recovery,”

Operations Manager Joey Solá added that “we regret Kiké Hernández’s absence, as he is a versatile player, with enormous talent and an invaluable presence in the clubhouse due to his energy and leadership.”

Federation President José Daniel Quiles stated: “We received with sadness the news that Enrique ‘Kiké’ Hernández will not be available for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. We know how much he longed to represent Puerto Rico in his country, in front of our people.”

“We wish him a speedy and full recovery,” Quiles added. “His health is the most important thing, and we are confident that he will soon return to the field.”

Hernández stated on his social media accounts that “with a heavy heart, I have to let you know that I will not be able to fulfill my dream of playing in the Classic in my homeland.”

“Yesterday, Friday, November 14, I had to have the extensor muscle in my elbow repaired, since I suffered a tear in May, and continuing to play with the desire to repeat as World Series champion caused it to detach from the bone,” the three-time World Series champion and current free agent said. “The rehabilitation will not allow me to be ready in time to wear the uniform with Puerto Rico on my chest. I hope you understand.”

I have been using Omega XL for several months now, and I can confidently say it has made a noticeable difference in my overall joint health. The capsules are easy to swallow, and I appreciate that they are made from natural ingredients. Since incorporating Omega XL into my daily routine, I have experienced reduced stiffness and improved mobility, which has significantly enhanced my quality of life, find more reviews on omega xl. I also appreciate the absence of any fishy aftertaste, which is often a concern with omega supplements. Overall, I highly recommend Omega XL for anyone looking to support their joint function and overall wellness. It has truly exceeded my expectations.
