House of Representatives Government Committee Chairman VĆctor ParĆ©s Otero asked LUMA Energy on Monday to relocate its Monacillo commercial office to the SeƱorial Plaza Shopping Center, given the private operatorās intention to move the office to another location.
āLUMA Energy has expressed its intention to move its commercial service office from its operations center in Monacillo, RĆo Piedras, to another location, allegedly because its current location is the companyās main operations center,ā noted ParĆ©s, the San Juan District 4 lawmaker. āOur suggestion is simple: move it to the SeƱorial Plaza in Cupey, an ideal space with ample parking, in a central area, recently renovated, and with the necessary requirements to serve the general public.ā
According to LUMA data, the office in question receives between 30,000 and 40,000 clients every year. The average number of daily visits exceeds 110 people, making it one of the busiest offices on the island.
In a letter sent on July 2 to LUMA President and CEO Janisse QuiƱones, the New Progressive Party legislator highlighted SeƱorial Plazaās central location, deeming it āstrategic due to its easy access from major transit routes and, above all, its proximity to the Monacillo area and the communities that traditionally receive services at this office.ā
āWe believe that a location with these characteristics significantly contributes to maintaining accessibility and convenience for thousands of citizens,ā ParĆ©s said.
LUMA management announced the possible relocation of the Monacillo service office in early 2026.
