As part of the San Juan Lions Club membership campaign, a ceremony was held over the weekend to honor San Juan Mayor Miguel Romero Lugo with the distinction of “Honorary Member,” making him a lifetime member of the community service organization.

The well-attended event took place at a Condado restaurant in the Condado sector with the mayor sworn in as a new member after being introduced to the organization by former Rep. Luis Raúl Torres Cruz. During the ceremony the outstanding work of the mayor and his constant support for the organization’s service initiatives were highlighted.

“The mayor’s support has been fundamental in recent years so that we can positively impact more families in San Juan,” San Juan Lions Club President Lilliam Rodríguez said. “Thanks to the collaboration of Mayor Miguel Romero Lugo, our Annual Health Fair at Plaza Las Américas has been able to offer vital services in a continuous and accessible way for the entire community.”

Meanwhile, Romero Lugo was also recognized for his administration, which the Lions Club noted has promoted significant improvements in infrastructure and municipal services, and has allowed more citizens to access resources, programs and vital services offered by various entities.

“I am grateful for this distinction, for this lifetime membership which I treasure, with the commitment to be a faithful collaborator with the causes of community service that the San Juan Lions Club provides with so much effort and pride,” Romero Lugo said. “It is known to all that since my arrival in the Municipality of San Juan we have not wasted a single minute to create channels of communication and coordination efforts with hundreds of organizations and voluntary entities together with their members willing to develop initiatives that mostly seek to improve the ‘quality of life’ of our constituents.”
