LUMA Energy personnel announced early Monday that the trailer transporting the new transformer for the Sabana Llana electrical substation in Carolina had to be stopped on the Barbosa Avenue exit toward Piñeiro Avenue in Río Piedras due to problems with the hydraulic system.
The personnel in charge of the transport aimed to complete the repairs later Monday, and it was expected that the movement could resume without further delays on Monday night.
“As part of the coordination efforts, we are working with the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTOP) and the Puerto Rico Police to minimize the impact on traffic in the area and ensure the safety of all drivers,” LUMA officials said in a press release. “We urge customers traveling this route to exercise caution in the area while we work on the situation.”
