LUMA Energy announced on Wednesday the temporary suspension of the function for reporting service breakdowns through its MiLUMA application, while it conducts damage assessments in Puerto Rico after the impact of Tropical Storm Ernesto.
The company announced that, during this phase, emergency reports will only be handled through the telephone line 1-844-888-5862.
Since Ernesto’s arrival on the island, the storm has left up to 9 inches of rain in some areas and has carried 70-mile-per-hour winds, which has caused more than 728,000 customers to be left without electricity, with the greatest impacts in the eastern and central areas of the island. LUMA has activated its Emergency Operations Center and has mobilized brigades throughout Puerto Rico to assess the damage and begin the restoration process according to its Emergency Response Plan.
“We are focused on conducting damage assessments and beginning restoration efforts when conditions allow,” LUMA President & CEO Juan Saca said in a written statement.
The company also said it will provide regular updates and estimated repair times through its official channels as the recovery process progresses.
