McDaniel leads Cangrejeras to 9th consecutive victory

The Cangrejeras of Santurce, led by shooting guard Kamaria McDaniel, and the Monarcas of Juana Díaz secured victories in National Women’s Superior Basketball (BSNF by its initials in Spanish) on Tuesday night.
McDaniel scored 26 points to lead Santurce to an 85-82 victory over the Pollitas of Isabela at Roberto Clemente Coliseum in Hato Rey.
It was the ninth-straight victory for the Cangrejeras, who remain at the top of the BSNF standings with a 13-3 record. Isabela, meanwhile, shares third place with the Atenienses of Manatí, both at 9-6.
Brianna Jones contributed 15 points, and Dayshalee Salamán and Nairimar Vargas had 12 points each for Santurce.
Lasha Petree scored 24 points for the Pollitas, while Quionche Carter had 21 points and 12 rebounds, Anisha George scored 12 points and Jaliena Sánchez added 10.
At Dolores “Toyita” Martínez Coliseum in Juana Díaz, center Imani McGee led the Monarcas with 25 points and 21 rebounds in an 88-80 win over the Leonas of Ponce.
Gabriela Gregory contributed 23 points, Tess Amundsen had 18 points, and reserve Kaishmy Ayuso scored 13 for Juana Díaz (7-9).
Talia von Oelhoffen led the way for Ponce (4-11) with 33 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Ariel Colón added 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Shelby Cheslek scored 15 points.
