Moca, Caguas record wins in BSNF quarterfinals

The Explosivas of Moca and the Criollas of Caguas secured victories on Sunday in their respective Women’s National Superior Basketball Championship (BSNF by its initials in Spanish) quarterfinal games.
At Raymond Dalmau Coliseum in Quebradillas, the Explosivas defeated the Ganaderas of Hatillo 72-64 to even the B Series at a game apiece. Hillary Martínez led the way for Moca with 20 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, supported by Leigha Brown with 18 points and nine rebounds, Ashley Torres with 14 points and Samantha Fuehring with 13.
McKenzie Forbes led Hatillo with 20 points, followed by Essence Booker with 15 points and Naomi Hernández with 14. The deciding third game of the series will be played today at Dr. Juan A. Sánchez Acevedo Coliseum in Moca.
In the evening’s other quarterfinal, the host Criollas dominated the Pollitas of Isabela 71-59 at Roger Mendoza Coliseum, tying Series C at a game apiece. Amanda Paschal and Asia Taylor each scored 14 points for Caguas, while Katie Villarini and Jackie Benítez added 11 points each.
Quionche Carter led the Pollitas with 16 points, and Anisha George and Lasha Petree each contributed 10. The third and final game of the series will be played today at José ‘Buga’ Abreu Coliseum in Isabela.
