The Liga de Béisbol Superior Doble A (Double-A Superior Baseball League) will hold the Brava Lubricants Final Series starting Friday, in which the Mulos de Juncos and Leones de Patillas will face off for the 2025 national championship. The first game will be at 8 p.m. at Francisco “Paquito” Montaner Stadium in Ponce.
“This final series is the culmination of a successful tournament, with two teams that have fought hard to get here,” said Dr. José Daniel Quile, president of the Puerto Rico Baseball Federation, in a written statement. “Since 2013, no team has been able to repeat as a champion, which demonstrates how competitive and exciting our tournament is. I am sure it will be an unforgettable final for all Puerto Rican baseball fans.”
The series will be played with two games the first weekend, three the second, and two the third, if necessary. The team with four wins will be crowned champion. The second game will be on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Mariano “Niní” Meaux Stadium in Juncos.
The Mulos (Mules), the franchise with the most national titles in Double A with 10, as well as 23 section titles, are seeking their first crown since 2019 under the direction of Raúl Casanova, a former major league catcher. They defeated the Artesanos (Artisans) de Las Piedras in seven games in the Eastern Section final and eliminated the Patrulleros (Patrolmen) de San Sebastián in the Final Four.
The Leones (Lions) will attempt to win the first championship in their 57-year history. Led by Félix “Picor” Santana, they defeated the Grises (Grays) de Humacao in the Southeast Section final and eliminated the Peces Voladores (Flying Fish) de Salinas in the Final Four. This is their second appearance in a national final, following their debut in 2010.
All games will be broadcast live on WIPR channel 6 and its digital platforms. Tickets are available at EventosPR.com.
