Nine teams advanced to the Class A Baseball regional semifinals during the opening weekend of the postseason, which saw 32 games played across Puerto Rico.
The Department of Recreation and Sports (DRD) reported earlier this week that the Barriada Sandín (Vega Baja) and the Ganaderos (Hatillo) secured two victories in the North Region to advance to the next round. In the Central-South Region, Puente Jobos and Barrancas -- both from Guayama -- did the same, along with Parcelas Vázquez (Salinas).
Also punching their tickets to the regional semifinals were the Soles (Luquillo) in the Southeast Region, Jauca (Santa Isabel) in the South, the Gallitos (Isabela) in the Southwest, and Sabana Seca (Toa Baja) in the El Toa region.
Weather conditions caused interruptions to some games and prevented others from taking place during the opening round. Those games will be rescheduled, the DRD announced
