The president of the Northwest Consortium Board of Mayors, Eng. Miguel “Ricky” Méndez Pérez, announced an upcoming event aimed at providing merchants across the region with information about financial assistance and business incentives.

The event will take place Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Northwest Consortium’s facilities, located at 698 Avenida Industrial in the urban center of Isabela.

“On that day, we will have Ángel Muñoz Suárez, director of the Mayagüez Office of the Office of Trade and Export, who will provide information about the assistance programs and incentives available to businesses in the region. This event is part of the services we offer through the Consortium, and those interested should register in advance by calling 787-819-1500,” said Méndez Pérez.

The Northwest Consortium is made up of the municipalities of Aguada, Aguadilla, Añasco, Isabela, Moca, Rincón and San Sebastián. The organization administers federal funds allocated to the municipalities that make up Conexión Laboral Noroeste through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

Through its American Job Center, the consortium provides services to eligible displaced workers, including career services, as well as access to training and employment opportunities. Eligible young people, both in and out of school, can also receive assistance to complete their academic programs and access training opportunities designed to help them enter the workforce.

All services are tailored to participants’ individual needs and aligned with their academic and occupational goals. The American Job Center also works with a network of public and private partners to provide additional services participants may need to achieve those goals.

Méndez Pérez noted that the organization regularly shares information through its Conexión Laboral Noroeste Facebook page. A live podcast is also broadcast every Wednesday at 9 a.m., featuring information about the services and opportunities available through the organization.
