New Progressive Party Electoral Commissioner Aníbal Vega Borges said the incoming legislature will execute the Minority Law for the House of Representatives but that even then none of the Citizen Victory Movement candidates will have sufficient votes to get a seat.

Vega Borges said that Mariana Nogales, Eliezer Morales, Eva Prados and Rafael Bernabe have enough votes for a seat in the Legislature.

Vega Borges described the political negotiations between the MVC and the Puerto Rican Independence Party as a “Coalition of Betrayal” after it was revealed that some of the PIP candidates got more votes than those of the MVC.

Citizen Victory Movement (MVC) Rep. Mariana Nogales Molinelli, said the alternate president of the State Election Commission (CEE), Jessika Padilla Rivera, had said the SEC would count the write in votes.

The scrutiny of votes has been characterized by its slowness because of discrepancies in documents, returned briefcases, a reduction in officials and controversies due to changes in instructions.

“By Tuesday, there will be a clear picture of what can happen in San Juan. Mainly, (the delay is due) to the fact that, every day, they set new rules and criteria, and that is getting delayed. In addition, there is more care and caution in relation to San Juan. As soon as you leave San Juan, everything else happens,” said Vega Borges said.
