Osos end skid, James leads Gigantes over Mets in BSN.

The Osos of Manatí and the Gigantes of Carolina won their respective Superior National Basketball league (BSN by its initials in Spanish) games on Saturday night.


At Juan Aubin Cruz Coliseum in Manatí, the Osos defeated the Criollos of Caguas, 94-89, to break a three-game losing streak.


After taking a slim 38-36 lead into halftime, Manatí took control of the game in the second half, extending the advantage to 10 in the third quarter. 


The Criollos clawed their way back in the final period, cutting the deficit to three points on a 3-pointer by Louis King with 32 seconds remaining in the game. The Osos responded from the free-throw line to seal the home victory.


Kristian Doolittle led Manatí (7-10) with 24 points, while Kendric Davis added 23 points and 5 assists, and Jonathan Rodríguez recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.


Moses Brown finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Caguas (10-6). King added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.


Meanwhile, at Carlos Miguel Mangual Coliseum in Canóvanas, the Gigantes defeated the Mets of Guaynabo, 96-76.


The Gigantes took control of the game in the second period, outscoring Guaynabo 29-16 in the frame to head into halftime with a 48-34 advantage.


Carolina extended the lead by another six points in the third quarter, and comfortably protected what would be the winning margin in the final period.


Scottie James led the Gigantes (9-7) with 18 points and 9 rebounds, while Jaylen Nowell contributed 17 points. Tremont Waters had 12 points and 12 assists. 


The Mets’ (8-9) Torrey Craig led all scorers with 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Ysmael Romero added 14 points, while Brandon Knight and Eric Ayala each tallied 12 points.
