Pentaq manufacturing expands operations in Sabana Grande, adding 50 new jobs

Gov. Jenniffer González Colón announced Sunday the expansion of Pentaq Manufacturing Corp., a Puerto Rican textile company that produces military uniforms and accessories, following the delivery of a new industrial property to support its growing operations in Sabana Grande.

The 5,785‑square‑foot facility, located in the Rayo Guaras sector of the southwestern municipality, was transferred by the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO). Executive Director Roberto Lefranc said the site adds to other PRIDCO properties already occupied by Pentaq, which has been a tenant since 2004.

The governor said the expansion will generate 50 new jobs, strengthening the company’s footprint in a specialized manufacturing sector.

“This expansion demonstrates the potential of our industrial infrastructure to support Puerto Rican companies that continue to grow and compete in highly specialized industries,” González Colón said.

The new facility will be used to manufacture knee pads, elbow pads and training shorts for the U.S. Army’s physical training uniforms. The move comes as Pentaq increases production capacity after securing a federal contract worth more than $41 million to supply combat uniform components to the Army, Air Force and Space Force.

Pentaq President Oscar Quiles thanked PRIDCO and federal agencies for their support, noting that the textile sector remains a key source of stable employment on the island. He praised the company’s workforce for helping position Pentaq as a strong player in Puerto Rico’s manufacturing industry.

The property became available on June 1 and had remained vacant for about three months. As part of the agreement, PRIDCO granted $19,521 in rent credits for civil and electrical work, and the facility has more than $405,000 in Federal Emergency Management Agency funds allocated for future improvements.

PRIDCO manages more than 1,400 properties and 21 million square feet of industrial space across Puerto Rico, supporting business establishment and expansion in strategic sectors.
