Police reported on Wednesday an incident involving a small aircraft, reported at 10:30 a.m. off the coast of Levittown Beach in Toa Baja, where the pilot was forced to maneuver due to mechanical failure.


According to authorities, the complainant -- the 41-year-old pilot -- stated that while flying over the area of ​​the water pump in Levittown, the aircraft, an ICON A5 model, began experiencing engine trouble.


Police noted that the pilot attempted to maneuver the plane to return to his point of departure, but the aircraft crashed along the shoreline. Preliminary reports indicated that the man was the sole occupant.


Authorities reported that the pilot was in stable condition.
