PR opens Davis Cup Americas Group III with 3-0 victory over Costa Rica

The Puerto Rican National Team opened the Davis Cup Americas Group III tennis tournament in San José, Costa Rica with a 3-0 victory over the host team on Tuesday.
In the first singles match, Jake Fellows defeated Paulo Pocasangre 6-1, 7-6(2) in a contest that lasted one hour and 52 minutes.
Subsequently, Marko Mesarovic extended Puerto Rico’s lead by beating Adrián Quirós Monterrey, 6-4, 6-2.
The day concluded with the doubles match, where the duo of Fellows and Nicholas Snyder defeated Luca Lo Nardo and Pocasangre, 6-3, 6-3.
“We are very proud of how our team opened the competition,” said Rosa Martínez, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tennis Association. “The players demonstrated great preparation, discipline, and commitment in every match.”
The tournament, which runs through Saturday, brings together several nations from the region vying for promotion within the international Davis Cup structure.
Puerto Rico was slated to play Jamaica in a crucial group stage match on Wednesday.
