PR wins 4 medals at regional junior fencing championships

The Puerto Rican delegation shone at the 2025 Central American and Caribbean Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships held at the San Francisco de Dos RÃos Sports Complex in San José, Costa Rica, winning a total of four medals in individual competitions: two gold and two bronze.
The gold medals were won by Alanis Waller del Valle, cadet épée champion, and Connor Woodward, who was crowned junior sabre champion. The bronze medals were won by Waller del Valle in junior épée and Keviel Rosado Cruz in cadet sabre.
The most recent gold medal came from Woodward, who had an outstanding day in the junior category. The fencer finished the group stage with a 4-1 record and then dominated the knockout rounds. He defeated Guillermo Landaverde (El Salvador) 15-5, Juan Pacheco (Colombia) 15-7, and Carlos Toledo (Mexico) 15-12 in the semifinals, before securing the title with a decisive 15-7 victory over Santiago Delgado (Mexico) in the final.
With the four medals, Puerto Rico is emerging as one of the top delegations in the championship, which continues this week with the team events.
