Prison inmate hospitalized in critical condition after reported attack

An inmate was reported to be in critical condition over the weekend after being attacked at around 8:56 a.m. Saturday in the Guayama 1000 prison.

According to the complainant, he was in unit three of the plaza area to eat, when several inmates attacked him with sharp objects, inflicting wounds in various parts of the body.

The inmate was treated in the medical area of the institution and referred to a hospital in the metropolitan area in critical condition.

The case was referred to the Assault Division of the Guayama Criminal Investigation Corps for further investigation.
