Puerto Rico Innovation and Technology Service (PRITS) Executive Director Poincaré Díaz and Treasury Secretary Ángel Pantoja Rodríguez provided guidance Wednesday regarding the secure use of the Unified Internal Revenue System (SURI by its acronym in Spanish) portal to register banking information and receive tax relief funds.

“We are providing guidance to every citizen so that they may complete this process with total confidence,” Díaz said in written remarks. “We want the money not only to arrive quickly, but to arrive securely.”

The process applies to eligible taxpayers who did not include their bank account information on their 2025 tax return or who received their refund via check.

Pantoja Rodríguez emphasized that registration must be completed exclusively through the official link available within the taxpayer’s SURI account.

“Our mission is to guide the public to prevent them from falling victim to fraud schemes,” he said. “The Department of the Treasury has enabled a specific link within the SURI accounts of these taxpayers; this is the only official method for registering bank account information.”

PRITS urged the public to verify that they are accessing the site directly at suri.hacienda.pr.gov and that any portal they use ends in pr.gov.

Díaz warned that any communications requesting bank account information outside of the SURI platform should be ignored.

“We are employing the highest cybersecurity standards to safeguard this process,” he added.

To complete the registration, taxpayers must log in to their SURI account using their username and password, access the “Individual” menu, and select the link labeled “2025 Tax Relief – Add Bank Account.”

They must then enter the routing and account numbers for their financial institution and save the confirmation number provided.

The Treasury Department reminded the public that it will never request sensitive information via email or text message.

General eligibility requirements include having resided in Puerto Rico for the entire year, having filed a 2025 tax return -- or a timely extension -- and having an income of $150,000 or less.
