Eliana Enríquez, the versatile player for the champion Prodigiosas of Sabana Grande, has been named Rookie of the Year for the 2026 Women’s Premier Softball League (LPSF by its initials in Spanish) season after decisively winning the vote among sports journalists, team owners and league officials.
The Puerto Rican national team member secured the award by amassing 85 points. Hailey Guerrero of the Valencianas of Juncos finished second with 37 points, followed by Nailiah Searight (Guánica) with 16, Jenelle Cruz (Ponce) with 12 and Isabella Foran (Cidra) with nine. The remaining candidates combined for 12 points.
Enríquez delivered an outstanding offensive performance in her debut LPSF season, batting .511 -- good for second-best in the league -- with a league-leading 24 hits in 47 official at-bats. Additionally, she scored 14 runs, hit four doubles, drew five walks, drove in six runs and stole five bases.
Enríquez’s performance was instrumental in helping the Prodigiosas finish the regular season with a 13-5 record -- tying the Valencianas of Juncos and the Bravas of Cidra for the best record in the league -- before they went on to claim the franchise’s first-ever championship.
In the voting process, Enríquez received 15 first-place votes out of the 19 cast. Guerrero and Searight each received two first-place votes.
