The pair of Enrique Ríos and Kristal Meléndez took the silver medal on Sunday after losing to Venezuelans Carlos Ríos and Dakota Ferrer in the mixed doubles table tennis gold medal event at the Second Junior Pan American Games Asunción 2025 in Paraguay.


The match went to the maximum of five sets with scores of 11-5, 9-11, 9-11, 11-8 and 11-8.


The bronze also went to Puerto Rico as the pair of Steven Moreno and Edmarie León shared the podium with Brazilians Felipe Doti and Karina Senaga, increasing the boricua medal count to eight.


The action also extended to singles competition, where Edmarie León advanced to the women’s quarterfinals after defeating Colombian Mariana Rodríguez in five sets, setting up a match against Venezuelan Dakota Ferrer. In the men’s event, Steven Moreno dominated Venezuelan Jesús Tovar in the set minimum and was to face Colombian Sebastián Bedoya in the next round. Meanwhile, Kristal Meléndez and Enrique Ríos both fell in the fifth set of their respective matches, to Canadian Natalie Chan and Dominican Ramón Vila, respectively.
