With a firm mission to position Puerto Rico as a key fashion destination in the Caribbean and around the world, the island is celebrating the Official Puerto Rico Fashion Week from Oct. 6 to Oct. 12, as established by Act 155-2024.

The event marks a significant cultural and economic milestone for the island, promoting the local fashion industry, creative tourism and cultural entrepreneurship.

With a program that includes runway shows, exhibitions, film screenings, educational forums, and VIP events, this year’s Fashion Week aims to be a more vibrant platform for creativity, innovation and Puerto Rican pride.

Twenty-five local and international designers have already been confirmed, including notable names such as Carlos Alberto, Lisa Thon, Sonia Rivera, Elier Aubret, Jaer Cabán, Juan Carlos Collazo, Axel “Gax” Chinea, Tommie Hernández, José Raúl, Herman Nadal, Lilliam Landrón (the president of DR Fashion Week), Melkis Díaz (from the Dominican Republic), Mar Beltrán (from Colombia), Felipe de León (Dominican Republic), Edwin Rosario, Omayra Casillas, Meily Fernández, and an emerging generation of prominent designers, including Raúl Jafet, Mateo Manuel, Diego Borrero, Ozvart Meléndez, Christopher Santana, and Armando Pereira, among others.

The showcase highlights the richness, diversity and innovation of Puerto Rican design.

Zuleika Zayas, the founder and spokesperson for Official Fashion Week, emphasized that the 2025 edition will focus on promoting Puerto Rican talent through unique immersive experiences. Among them is the launch of the first Fashion Film -- a documentary about Puerto Rican fashion -- which will be screened at Caribbean Cinemas, alongside new education and business platforms led by Expomoda.

One of the most anticipated features will be the innovative “Modaland” edition, an unprecedented experience in Puerto Rico. Several designers will present their collections in Claro Space, the first 360-degree immersive dome in Puerto Rico and Latin America. The experience will allow the public to enjoy multiple runways with exclusive and distinctive concepts, catering to all tastes and styles, from classic and sophisticated to ultra-fashionable and urban. One of the main venues will be the renovated Parque de las Ciencias by Toroverde, powered by Claro, which will serve as the epicenter of this year’s creative explosion.

Additionally, the production company announced that the final of “The Emerging,” a platform that will showcase the island’s new outstanding designer, will be held during the week. There will also be new experiences that engage the five senses and will be revealed soon.

Fashion Week will feature significant international visitors and partnerships, with support and participation from representatives of countries such as the Dominican Republic, the United States (particularly New York), Spain and Colombia, solidifying Puerto Rico’s role as a cultural bridge for entertainment and fashion in the Caribbean.

“Puerto Rico will lead the way in merging technology, culture, and fashion into a single event,” said Zayas, who added that there are more surprises yet to be revealed throughout the week.

Fashion is one of those areas where inspiration matters as much as the product itself. That’s why I like the concept behind https://www.lookberry.com/ . It’s not just an e-commerce site but also a fashion community where people share their styles. You can discover new looks, comment on them, and shop at the same time. It blends two things I already do separately - scrolling for inspiration and buying clothes - into a single platform. That integration makes it feel fresh compared to typical fashion sites.
