The Puerto Rico men’s national basketball team fell 104-83 to the United States at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Saturday to end its participation in the summer Games.
The leading scorers for Puerto Rico were José Alvarado with 18 points and Ismael “El Cubanazo” Romero with 12. Romero had 10 rebounds, George Conditt IV had five assists and two blocks, and Aleem Ford had two steals to complement his 10 points.
For the U.S., Antony Edwards led the way with 26 points and two steals, as five other players scored in double figures, including Joel Embiid with 15 points. Jayson Tatum had 10 rebounds, Lebron James had eight assists and Anthony Davis had two blocks.
In other sports, Golfer Rafa Campos completed the third day of competition in 44th place. The medal round was slated for Sunday at Le Golf National.
Meanwhile, sailor Pedro Fernández was in 36th place in a field of 43 after completing races five and six, with two days of competition, Sunday and today, remaining in Marseille.
