Puerto Rico wraps up CAC Games with 124 medals

Puerto Rico concluded its participation in the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games (Santo Domingo 2026) with 124 medals: 34 gold, 37 silver and 53 bronze.
The island delegation’s final medal came in fencing, where Adrián Figueredo, Deven Mattoo and Rafael Western defeated the Dominican Republic 45-18 in the men’s team sabre bronze-medal match.
In track & field, Naomi García won bronze in the women’s race walk event with a time of 4:07:31, bringing Puerto Rico’s total medal count in the discipline to 21.
Puerto Rican track & field athletes finished the Games with five gold, seven silver and nine bronze medals. Gold medals were won by José Figueroa (200 meters), Yariel Soto (decathlon), Alysbeth Félix (long jump and heptathlon), and the men’s 4×400-meter relay team.
The seven silver medals included those won by Héctor Pagán (10,000 meters), Jerome Vega (hammer throw), Grace Claxton (400-meter hurdles), Víctor Ortiz (5,000 meters), and Gladymar Torres (100 meters), as well as the mixed 4×400 and women’s 4×100 relay teams.
The nine bronze medals included performances by Ortiz, Pagán, Paola Vázquez, Rachelle de Orbeta, Marcus Gelpi, Fabiola Declet, and Naomi García, along with the men’s 4×100 and women’s 4×400 relay teams.
Puerto Rico’s medal tally put it in sixth place among participating nations, behind fifth-place Dominican Republic, which finished with 150 total medals (46 gold, 37 silver, 67 bronze), and ahead of seventh-place Guatemala with 94 medals (18 gold, 32 silver, 44 bronze).
Mexico was the runaway leader in the medal count (ranked according to gold medals earned), with 407 total medals (167 gold, 125 silver, 115 bronze). Colombia was second with 266 total medals (91 gold, 98 silver, 77 bronze), followed by Cuba with 155 medals (51 gold, 48 silver, 56 bronze) and Venezuela with 216 medals (49 gold, 70 silver, 97 bronze).
