The Prodigiosas of Sabana Grande defeated the Valencianas of Juncos 3-0 on Saturday night at Quintín Hernández Park in Sabana Grande.

The Prodigiosas tied the series at one win apiece with the home field victory.

Sabana Grande took control in the first inning when Colby McClinton hit a double to center field to drive in Olivia Elliot for the game’s first run -- a lead that proved sufficient thanks to the outstanding performance of the pitching staff.

The home team extended the lead in the sixth inning. Madison Velázquez hit a home run over the center-field fence to make the score 2-0, and later in the inning, Eva Torres singled in Julianna Nieves for the third and final run.

Prodigiosas starter Morgan Smith struck out 10 and allowed just two hits to earn the seven-inning victory while issuing two walks.

The loss went to Juncos starter Mariah López, who pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and three runs, striking out nine batters while walking two.

Velázquez led the Prodigiosas’ offense, going 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. McClinton finished 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Torres went 1-for-2 with an RBI, and both Elliot and Nieves scored a run.
