Santurce stays unbeaten, Corozal overtakes Caguas for 2nd place in LVSF.

The seventh week of the Women’s Superior Volleyball League (LVSF by its initials in Spanish) season concluded on Sunday night with the Cangrejeras of Santurce extending their undefeated streak to 14 games, while the Pinkin of Corozal climbed into second place in the standings.
At Roger Mendoza Coliseum in Caguas, the Pinkin defeated the Criollas of Caguas for the third time this season, knocking the hosts out of second place by winning in four sets and taking all three points.
The set scores were: 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18.
With the victory, Corozal improved its record to 9-7 with 27 points, while the Criollas fell back to third place with an 8-9 record and 25 points.
The Corozal offense was led by Jordan Iliff, who had 24 points (23 attacks and 1 block). She was followed by Sharlissa de Jesús with 15 points, Adriana Rodríguez with 13 and Ivania Ortiz with 11.
Jenaisya Moore led Caguas with 19 points (18 attacks and 1 block), while Diana Reyes and Andrea Serra each contributed 10 points.
In team statistics, the Pinkin outperformed the Criollas 58-45 in attacks, 9-4 in blocks, 8-3 in service aces, 35-32 in passes, 74-68 in digs, and 14-9 in assists.
In the night’s other game, the Cangrejeras remained unbeaten by defeating the host Valencianas of Juncos in straight sets with scores of 28-26, 28-26 and 25-21 at Rafael G. Amalbert Coliseum.
Santurce (14-0) now leads the LSVF with 39 points, while Juncos (5-11) remains in last place with 15 points.
The eighth and penultimate week of the LVSF season begins this Wednesday with a single game, Corozal vs. Santurce at 8:12 p.m. at Roberto Clemente Coliseum in Hato Rey.
