Sembradores win Collegiate Summer League Championship

The Sembradores won the Collegiate Summer League’s second-season championship on Tuesday night by defeating Trujillo Alto 6-3 at the Manuel A. Pérez Housing Complex ballpark in San Juan.

Andrew O’Farril started the game for the Sembradores and pitched four innings, allowing two runs and three hits. Héctor Busigó finished the game, allowing one run and three hits.

Offensively, Jonel Torres drove in three runs with two hits, while Jesús González scored twice for the Sembradores, who finished the season with a 9-4 record.

Trujillo Alto reached the championship game after defeating Las Piedras 13-8 in the first round of the playoffs. The Sembradores, based in Trujillo Alto, secured their spot in the final with an 8-3 victory over Loíza.

The league’s second season featured seven franchises. The Puerto Rico Baseball Federation established the Collegiate Summer League in 2025 to provide development opportunities for collegiate players and prospects interested in college baseball.
