Arecibo District Sen. Brenda Pérez Soto filed a joint resolution in the upper chamber on Wednesday to designate the Educational Park for Traffic Safety (PESET by its acronym in Spanish), which is located at the Driver Services Center in Manuel Zeno Gandía Industrial Park in Arecibo, with the name of former Puerto Rico first lady Irma Margarita “Maga” Nevares de Rosselló.

The measure recognizes Nevares de Rosselló’s career and her commitment to initiatives aimed at the social welfare, education and safety of Puerto Rican families. It also highlights the importance of road safety education as a key tool to prevent accidents and save lives, especially among younger generations, Pérez Soto noted.

“Road safety education begins at an early age,” the senator said. “This park has served as a learning space where thousands of children and young people have had the opportunity to learn and practice traffic rules in an interactive way.”

The PESET has established itself as an educational center where students and citizens receive theoretical and practical guidance on traffic regulations.

The venue recreates a road environment with streets, traffic signs, traffic lights and intersections, allowing participants to learn dynamically about the responsibility involved in sharing public roads as pedestrians, cyclists or drivers.
