The Puerto Rico National Guard (PRNG) said goodbye on Tuesday to a group of soldiers from the 296th Infantry Regiment, who left for the African continent to fulfill a support and security mission in the region.
The farewell event was attended by the adjutant general of Puerto Rico, Maj. Gen. Miguel Méndez, who emphasized the commitment and professionalism of the soldiers.
“Our soldiers are ready to face the challenges that await them with courage, discipline and professionalism,” Méndez said in a written statement. “I know that they will represent Puerto Rico with pride and successfully fulfill their mission.”
The international mission is part of the PRNG’s ongoing efforts to contribute to global security, reinforcing stability in the region and collaborating with allied forces. During the deployment, the island regiment will provide support to both the soldiers and their families.
