Sprinter makes history with Puerto Rico’s first medal in 100-meter event

Sprinter Frances Colón earned Puerto Rico’s first medal in the 100-meter dash on Tuesday night at the Athletics Stadium of the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay.
Colón won the bronze medal in the 100-meter final with a time of 11.46 seconds.
Sports historian Carlos Uriarte said Colón’s performance marked the first time a Puerto Rican sprinter has made it onto the podium at the Pan American Games, both in the adult and youth categories.
With Colón’s accomplishment, Puerto Rico’s medal count in Asunción as of Tuesday stood at 12.
