Students impacted by smoke after fire at Santurce business

A fire broke out on Wednesday at the Paonesa Carpets company, located at the intersection of Fernández Juncos Avenue and Bolívar Street in Santurce, impacting several students from the nearby San Vicente de Paul School, who inhaled smoke.

The students were taken to the hospital to receive medical attention, according to the police.

Firefighters from different municipalities in the San Juan Metropolitan Area, including Toa Baja and Cataño, worked to control the fire, which consumed part of the carpet inventory of and other property at the business.
