Team Puerto Rico baseball roster for CAC Games announced

Puerto Rico National Team manager Juan “Igor” González announced earlier this week the 24-player roster that will represent the island in the baseball tournament at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

The squad is composed primarily of active players from the Superior Double-A Baseball League and includes 12 position players and 12 pitchers.

Key players include infielder Yadiel Rivera, who has six seasons of Major League experience. Also on the roster are outfielder Rubén Castro -- a two-time Double-A MVP and batting champion -- left-handed pitcher Luis Leroy Cruz, and fellow southpaw Jorhan Laboy, who has represented Puerto Rico at the U-23 level.

The team also features the 2026 Double-A Pitcher of the Year, Anthony Borrero, as well as MVPs Edison Mora and José “Pocholo” Rivera. Mora also won the federation tournament’s batting title in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

Puerto Rico will compete in Group A alongside the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Curaçao. The team will make its tournament debut on July 31 against the Dominican Republic at 7 p.m. at Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium in Santo Domingo.

Group stage play continues for Puerto Rico on Aug. 1 against Cuba and concludes on Aug. 2 against Curaçao. The second round will take place Aug. 4-6, with medal matches scheduled for Aug. 7.

The roster consists of position players Kevin Santa, José “Pocholo” Rivera, Yadiel Rivera, Alexis Torres, Kevin Luciano, Kerby Camacho, Roberto “Bebo” Peña, Rubén Castro, Jan Hernández, Edison Mora, Anthony García and Jadiel Sánchez. The pitching staff will consist of left-handers Luis Leroy Cruz, Jorhan Laboy, Noel Pinto, Miguel Ausúa, Sidney Duprey, Héctor Hernández, Jorge Benítez and Luis Cintrón, as well as right-handers Rubén Ramírez, Joshua Torres, Miguel Mejía and Anthony Borrero.
