Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry has purchased a luxury mansion in Puerto Rico for over $30 million, a move that comes just weeks after he announced plans to scale back his workload and relocate to the island to spend more time with his family.

The property, which recently closed, spans 14,475 square feet and sits on nearly 1.4 acres within a gated community. Built in 2021, the residence features five bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a movie theater, an open-concept kitchen, a swimming pool and a gym.

The acquisition follows comments Perry made during a September appearance on NBC’s “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle,” where he revealed plans to move to Puerto Rico at the beginning of 2027. The STAR reported the story on Sept. 15.

“Moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I’m pulling back a whole lot,” Perry said during the interview, citing a desire to spend more time with his 11-year-old son, Aman. “It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in.”

Despite plans to reduce his workload, Perry is not expected to step away from business entirely. Reports indicate he intends to continue working from Puerto Rico, including opening a production office and filming projects on the island.

The move adds Puerto Rico to Perry’s growing real estate portfolio. Last month, the filmmaker listed his Beverly Hills estate for $57 million. The nine-bedroom, 15-bathroom mansion gained public attention after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly lived there temporarily in 2020 while transitioning from their roles as senior members of the British royal family.

According to reports, Perry purchased the Beverly Hills property for $4.3 million in 2004 and completed construction of the home in 2012. The estate sits on 22.5 gated acres and offers expansive views of the surrounding canyons.

In addition to properties in California, Perry owns a home in Atlanta near Tyler Perry Studios, a 330-acre production complex built on a former military base. He also owns a private island in the Bahamas and a residence in Jackson, Wyoming, which was listed for sale earlier this year.

Perry’s purchase is one of the most notable luxury residential transactions in Puerto Rico this year and signals a deeper commitment to the island as both a personal residence and a potential production hub for future film and television projects.
