The Workers Union of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) announced on Monday that they will start a 24-hour strike on Wednesday in protest of the non-compliance of the UPR central administration with the stipulation that put an end to the strike in September.
Workers Union President David Muñoz said UPR President Luis Ferrao Delgado has not complied with various key agreements signed at the beginning of September.
“We have no other alternative than to return to the gates of the central administration,” he said. “Once and again Dr. Ferrao has failed the workers of the union through systematic fooling of the union workers [using] non-compliance and deliberately foot-dragging on all the agreements, brokered decisions and even decisions in the courts, all of which have favored the union.”
He added that if they didn’t arrive at a satisfactory response in the next 24 hours the union would extend the time of action and to all the university campuses.
