Utuado & Guayama sweep women’s baseball twin bills

The defending champion Montañesas of Utuado and the Estrellas del Guamaní of Guayama each swept their respective doubleheaders during Sunday’s second game day of the 2026 Women’s Baseball League season.
Utuado defeated the Maceteras of Vega Alta 9-4 and 5-2, taking the lead in the North Section with a 3-1 record, while Vega Alta fell to 2-2.
In the first game, Noelia de Jesús pitched a complete game with four strikeouts, while Marie Collazo and Carelys Vázquez each drove in two runs. In the nightcap, Yedlimar de Jesús pitched four and two-thirds innings, struck out eight batters, and earned the win. Janiliz Rivera finished the game to record the save, while Adrix Paradizo drove in two runs and Eva Torres scored twice.
Also in the North Section, the Artesanas of Las Piedras and the Cocoteras of Loíza split their doubleheader. Las Piedras won the first game 6-0 behind Angelis Rivera, who went the distance, allowing only one hit and striking out seven. Jaycemarie Fernández drove in three runs.
Loíza responded with a 10-7 victory in the second game for its first win of the season. The Cocoteras scored eight runs in the sixth inning to complete the comeback, with Franchesca Figueroa earning the win in relief and Josielis O’Farill driving in three runs.
In the South Section, Guayama dominated the Piratas of Cabo Rojo, 14-0 and 15-3. Jailyn Lebrón pitched four scoreless innings in the first game, and Valeria Negrón drove in three runs.
In the nightcap, the Estrellas scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to pave the way to victory. Daniela Figueroa earned the win in relief.
Meanwhile, the doubleheader between the Ponys of Santa Isabel and the Poetas Juana Díaz was suspended and will be rescheduled.
The next round of games is set for this Saturday at 6 p.m., featuring Juana Díaz at Guayama, Cabo Rojo at Santa Isabel, Utuado at Loíza and Las Piedras at Vega Alta.
