The Vaqueras of Bayamón swept the Criollas of Caguas in three sets on Saturday night in a Puerto Rican Volleyball Confederation (COPUVO by its acronym in Spanish) match.

The match, held at José “Pepín” Cestero Court in Bayamón, ended with scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-13, all in favor of the home team.

With the win, Bayamón earned all four available points, reaching a total of 24 and improving their record to 7-5, good for fifth place in the standings.

The Criollas, meanwhile, suffered their seventh consecutive loss and now have a 1-10 record with five points. Caguas still has a slim mathematical chance of qualifying for the postseason, but they would need to win their final game in three sets and hope that Las de la Mancha of Corozal doesn’t earn any points in their remaining match. If Corozal secures at least one point, the Criollas will be officially eliminated.

With the result in Bayamón, the Lady Sharks of Aguadilla (3-7 record and 10 points) secured their spot in the postseason, becoming the seventh team to qualify.

The teams that have already qualified are: the Cangrejeras of Santurce (12-0, 40 pts), Amazonas of Trujillo Alto (9-3, 33 pts), Bravas of Cidra (7-4, 26 pts), Big Sisters of Carolina (8-4, 24 pts), Vaqueras (7-5, 24 pts) and Volley Girls of Guayanilla (6-4, 21 pts).

Carol Morales was the standout player for Bayamón, while Yanari Llanos excelled for the Criollas.
