Vaqueros take lead in BSN A semifinals with 101-78 home victory over Gigantes

The Vaqueros of Bayamón used a dominant second half to defeat the Gigantes of Carolina 101-78 in Game 3 of the National Superior Basketball (BSN by its initials) Conference A semifinals at Rubén Rodríguez Coliseum in Bayamón on Monday night.
Trailing 46-42 at the half, defending champion Bayamón rallied to a 70-64 lead after three quarters before widening the gap in the final frame to go up 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.
Jassel Pérez led the Vaqueros’ balanced attack with 20 points and seven rebounds. Gary Browne had 15 points and five assists, Stephen Thompson Jr. contributed 14 points and six assists, and Damian Jones and Javier Mójica added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Tremont Waters led the Gigantes with 26 points and eight assists.
The series resumes at 8 p.m. tonight with Game 4 at Carlos Miguel Mangual Coliseum in Canóvanas.
In Monday night’s other semifinal game, the Santeros of Aguada beat the Capitanes of Arecibo 98-86 at Manuel Petaca Iguina Coliseum in Arecibo to take a 2-1 lead in the Conference B series. Game 4 is at 8 p.m. tonight at Ismael “Chavalillo” Delgado Coliseum in Aguada.
