Vega Baja to host DR-vs-PR motocross races on Sunday

Riders from the Dominican Republic will compete against their Puerto Rican counterparts in the extreme sport of motocross on Sunday, Aug. 2 at the “Rush Motocross & Off Road Park” in Vega Baja, an event expected to draw extreme sports enthusiasts in large numbers.
“This sport has a fanbase that thrives on the adrenaline and euphoria of these engines, and this time our national riders will be facing off against our Dominican brothers,” event promoter Gabriel Catala said. “Hundreds of people have already confirmed they will attend this ultimate event for motorcycle riders.”
Racing is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. with the MX1 (450 Expert) class. The day’s full schedule features 15 categories, ranging from 6-year-olds on 50cc bikes to veterans aged 45 and older.
Confirmed participants include championship leader Ariana Rodríguez, Fabián Delgado (50cc), Luis Grana (Veterans 35+), Sebastián Rosado (85cc A), Lenac La Torre (85cc B), Abrahim Rodríguez (65cc), Inael “El Mini Fox” Rivera (250 Expert), and Mario “El Fantasma” Olivencia and Armando Carrasquillo (Veterans 45+).
Athletes representing the Dominican Racing Team include Adriel Jung (11 years old, #777) from Sosúa, competing in the 65cc and 85cc B categories; and Ángel L. Peña (13, #310) from Moca, in the 85cc B category. Additionally, Jorge I. “Balita” Suárez (14, #111) from La Vega will face the Puerto Rican riders in the 250 Expert category.
“The Dominican athletes know no limits and are ready to put up a great fight against the ‘Boricuas’ in this invitational race,” Dominican team captain Henning Jung said.
